Itinerary
Day 1 Lusaka
Leaving behind the natural wonder of Victoria Falls we begin our expedition. After Livingstone we journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka. You will notice the vegetation becoming sub-tropical and the roads a little rougher.

Day 2 Chipata
Today is a long drive through lush country, crossing rivers en-route to Chipata, the gateway to the South Luangwa NP. Zambia is truly African and an adjustment from the more Western ways of Southern Africa.

Day 3 South Luangwa National Park
Early in the morning we drive from Chipata to the border of the South Luangwa National Park where we spend the next two nights right on the banks of the Luangwa River. You can often see hippos and other animals from the camp bar.  This afternoon we enjoy an included sunset game drive in the South Luangwa NP.

Day 4 South Luangwa National Park
In the morning you have the opportunity to take another game drive, the park is known for its high concentration of leopards and hippos. After lunch we visit the community run tribal textile project and a local village.

Day 5/6 Malawi – Lake Malawi National Park
Today we enter Malawi and after a short stop in Lilongwe we travel south to Monkey Bay in the Lake Malawi National Park.  This area has been designated a World Heritage site and the protected area has an abundance of aquatic life in clear, warm water.  Snorkelling and scuba diving are both excellent here, but there are many other water activities, such as kayaking, to enjoy while not relaxing.

Day 7/8 Kande Beach
We take a scenic drive to Kande beach where there are many optional activities available such as horse riding and different water sports.  On our second day here we have an included guided village walk in order to meet the local people and learn more about Malawian life.

Day 9/10 Northern Lake Malawi - Chitimba
We travel further north and spend our last 2 days in Malawi at Chitimba beach.  For those that have had enough of beautiful lake views there is an overnight hike to the Livingstonia Mission Station in the highland area.  This working mission was set up by Scottish Presbyterian followers of David Livingstone in 1894 and is 900m above the lake. There is also a shorter hike to the Manchawe Falls.
Optional Activities: Hike to Livingstonia Mission, watersports, abseiling etc.

Day 11 Tanzania – Iringa
Today we leave Malawi and enter Tanzania. We ascend out of the Great Rift Valley through some spectacular mountain passes, passing vast tea plantations in the highlands before arriving at our camp outside Iringa. This evening our dinner is in a local Masai Hut where we enjoy a traditional Tanzanian evening.

Day 12 Dar es Salaam
Our journey today brings us out of the cool highland region of Iringa to the humid Indian Ocean coastal city of Dar es Salaam.  Meaning ‘house of peace’ in Arabic, Dar es Salaam is the economic and trade capital of Tanzania, but inland Dodoma remains the official capital city. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam our journey comes to an end.

Despite its name, Hell’s Gate is an ideal family gateway for a day trip from Nairobi or stopover en-route to Lake Nakuru or the Masai Mara, located just beyond Lake Naivasha. Famous for its natural hot geysers, eagle and vulture breeding grounds, visitors have the choice of driving, walking, camping, cycling and rock climbing within the park.
Horseback safaris can also be arranged. Special location to view include Fischer’s Tower, formerly a volcano’s plug, the Central Tower and Njorowa Gorges. Two extinct volcanos: Olkaira and Hobley’s are worth a trip. Natural steam vents rise from fissures in the volcanic rock. Obsidian, a striking black glassy rock formed from cooled molten lava is a feature of this landscape. Game to view includes: hyrax, buffalo, Masai Giraffe, eland, Coke’s Hartebeest, lion, leopard and some cheetah.
A haven for ornithologists and rock climbers , the cliffs of Hell’s Gate are breeding grounds for vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, Augur Buzzard and thousands of swifts; 103 species of bird have been recorded in the park. Hell’s Gate has three campsites

It is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets, shimmering waters and natural beauty that are guaranteed to captivate and enthrall all lovers of nature and wildlife.
And, there is no dearth of activities to keep visitors occupied.
It is also the source of the legendary Nile River, the world's longest. The Nile starts its journey from the lake city of Jinja in Uganda and traverses 6,671km (4,145 miles) until it drains into the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.
The largest lake in Africa, it also bears the distinction of being the second largest freshwater body in the world.
So how big is Lake Victoria? It covers an area of 68,800 sq km (26,600 sq miles).
But where is Lake Victoria? The lake is shared by the 3 East African neighbors of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Kisumu is the main Kenyan city on Lake Victoria.
Kogelo, a village on the lake's shores is the birthplace of Barrack Obama Senior, father to the US President.

Activities

The lake is located in Western Kenya which hardly features on the tourist circuit.
The lake therefore offers the visitor an opportunity to savor its world of attractions in an off-the-beaten-track, quiet environment. Although there are a range of activities to keep visitors busy, these understandably revolve around the lake.

Lake Victoria Cichlids

The lake is home to an estimated 200 cichlid species many of which are endemic to the lake.
While on a visit to this Kenya lake, you have plenty of opportunities to catch your very own cichlids and transport them home to your aquarium. Although extremely delicate, the lake's cichlid species are much loved for their spectacular, bright colors.

Fishing

Lake Victoria is swarming with fish. While tilapia is a local favorite, most of the overseas tourists are attracted by the lake's sizeable Nile Perch population...
The Nile Perch is considered a world class game fish because of its sheer size as it can grow to 1.8m (6ft) and weigh up to 140kg (300 lbs). The Perch, which is the largest freshwater fish, is also a ferocious fighter. And, you can go on fishing expeditions either in a speedboat or a motorized traditional canoe.

Birdwatching

Because the lake region is teeming with lots of avifauna, it is a birdwatcher's paradise.
